They spread forth life like the sun spreads light. Beauty reaching up and reaching out. Spreading underneath the ground, hidden, unnoticed. Pure, green, vibrant. Touching the very air we breathe.
Make me like a tree. Spreading love, reaching up and out, beneath, unnoticed, touching and cleansing the air around me.

Last Saturday our church left the building – we scattered across town and did projects for The Christian Mission, The Soup Kitchen, yard work, picking up trash, and so on. It was an awesome day of loving our community! John and I got to paint at the Christian mission with some of our friends from life group which was way too much fun.
The girls getting decked out in their little smocks. :)
Some tunes to entertain us as we worked.. :)
Anna and Emily would have to be the cutest little workers ever..
We ended the morning by stopping in for some delicious ice cream at the brand new Deluxe parlor. If you live in the area and haven’t tried Deluxe yet, you absolutely must. It’s so so incredibly yummy.
I love details.. I love the tiny lines, the tiny specks, the intense color. Things you have to look at really closely to notice.. beauty waiting to be seen. To stop and take that second look, to study a little more closely. I think God loves detail.. I think he makes it so that we don’t just pass by and glance at his creation but actually stop for a moment to really look at it. To really enjoy it. If you’re not looking for it, you’ll miss it. If you’re focused on things you need to do, places to go, problems weighing you down and just glance at the world around you.. you won’t see it. I think he wants us to search it out. To seek it. And that’s why he hides it. He wants us to take the focus off of ourselves and problems and such, and focus on beauty.. His creation.. singing it’s praises to their Maker.
Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth,
sing praise to the Lord,
to him who rides the ancient skies above,
who thunders with mighty voice.
Proclaim the power of God,
whose majesty is over Israel,
whose power is in the skies.
Psalm 68:32-34 TNIV

Kids all over the world don’t have shoes. They can’t afford them, can’t access them, there’s a variety of reasons. Shoes protect these kids from getting cuts and injuries, from transmitting hookworm and other foot diseases, and last but so important, many children are not allowed to go to school without shoes. That’s why I’ve joined up with TOMS shoe company, where for every pair you purchase, they give one to a child in need. They team up with the local schools and organizations in the countries where they work, and hand place the shoes on the children’s feet. It’s life changing.
Join us next year for One Day Without Shoes by signing up HERE. Be sure to check out TOMS shoes! Not only do they serve an incredible purpose, but they are stylish and also the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn. And no, they are not paying me to say this, I swear. I’m saying this simply because I truly believe that it’s a great cause. Because I want my fashion to reflect the heart of God, the reaching out and touching his children for Him.. and giving them a better life. -beth
